What is the purpose of CCYM?
To strengthen the youth ministry in local churches and districts of the Kansas East Annual Conference.
What is their vision?
To reach out to UM youth in the Kansas East Conference by providing opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development, raising awareness of social concerns, and creating a Christian atmosphere where faith, fun, and fellowship come together.
How do I become a member?
Each District Council on Youth Ministry (DCYM) elects six representatives to the CCYM. It is recommended that the youth be in grades 9-12 during the year in which they serve. Elections are usually done in the spring.
What is required of members?
- Commitment of time, energy and participation.
- Singing of a covenant of commitment.
- Attendance at the four CCYM meetings and event committee meetings.
- Participation in CCYM-sponsored youth events when possible.
- Leadership on an event committee.
What does CCYM do?
- Sponsors conference-wide events throughout the year for youth from all five districts.
- Collects and disperses money for the Youth Service Fund (YSF).
- Advocates for youth concerns.
- Participates in jurisdictional and national youth events and organizations.
